Weekend with Meryl Streep/Julia Childs

Well another day another dollar spent. I have just came back from a mini vacation and it rained all weekend long. Not the best weather for spending what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend. I spent it inside watching movies (what a surprise). I watched Julie & Julia. It was an okay movie. I watched it because my grandmother used to watch Julia Child's all the time on TV and she owns her cookbooks as well. It defiantly was sad when at the end it showed what happened after the movie. I knew that her and her husband had died but i think seeing her life and experiences made it a little bit harder to see.
I don't know how Meryl Streep got the voice perfect but she did. I always thought that Julia Child's had a bit of a shrilly but unique voice and Meryl Streep got it perfect. My grandmother thought she did an amazing job, down to the clothes, food and expressions, but the voice was no. 1 for her.
All of the food made me want to lick the television thought!

Inglorious Bastards Review

In lieu of my post of all of my favorite movies, I have decided to make up a list of all of my favs!!!

I will be making 1 post for each movie and going in to depth (or at least what I call depth) why I like them or what some of their flaws (although this is my favs list so there wont be many!)

Right now, my no. 1 is Inglorious Bastards




Now, I have always been a HUGE fan of Quentin Tarantino, and not to my surprise, Inglorious Bastards was no exception. The plot, the main thing that intrigued me about this movie. never have I seen a movie about a group of Jewish American soldiers going through Nazi occupied France scalping Nazi's. Then to add in a villain like Col. Hans Landa really sealed the deal for me.

Hans Landa is probably one of the most likably villains for me. Through the whole thing I knew he was killing massive amounts of people and STILL i liked him and wanted him to live! That is what made him one of my two favorite characters in this movie. Christoph Waltz made a performance of epic proportions and he really deserved that Oscar. (I think he made everyone like him in the opening scene at the Dreyfus' house in the beginning.
My other favorite character in the movie was Donny "The Bear Jew" Donowitz. I will admit I was biased at the beginning of the movie in his favor. Eli Roth has been a favorite director of mine for a while and I must admit, he looked very good all hunked up in that white wife beater. The Bear Jew made an eerie and passionate entrance when he was banging his way through the tunnel to beat a German soldier with a baseball bat, geared up with signatures from Jewish Americans from his home town Boston. Although it killed me when he died at the end!

I knew it was going to this but still, when you like a movie you get attached to characters and you don't want them to die but then they end up dying and you want to wish them back to life. That was the way with me (and many others) with The Bear Jew.

There was a great support cast to add to Brad Pitt's leading role. Hugo Stiglitz (played by Til Schweiger) made an imposing force as the murderous Nazi gone rogue. After killing 13 Gestapo officers. He was recruited by the Bastards and then the killing began.

Enough of the characters (although for me they made a lot of the movie) Quentin Tarantino did an excellent job directing, as per usual, and I really do think that this movie deserved the Oscar more than The Hurt Locker.

I don't know if anyone knows this on here, but I am a huge movie person, and throughout the last month or so I have been composing a list of all of the movies that I have watched through my life. Now when I see all of the movies compiled together I think I seem kind of lame, but it is what I love to do socially and on my own!
The list is about 700 movies long, but I cannot remember all of the movies I have watched in my life (obviously) but I have been trying to keep up with what I watch and then I will put into my alphabetized list. Now I want to keep it up to date and I think that posting it on here will be better (and safer) for me to do!

Most of them were really stupid, and/or redundant but I still watch them!!!!!

I think I have a new favorite song. It's called We Get On by Kate Nash, it might sound kind of stalkerish but this thing happened to me at the beginning of this school year! A lot of the characteristics are the same and I think that's why I like the song so much XP

Saturday night, I watch Channel 5

Those are the lyrics and something I like about Kate Nash is her accent! I know this sounds like a childish reason to like a singer but English accents are so cool, but most singers don't have such a prominent accent like Nash!
I love her whole album, that's called "Made of Bricks", it has kind of a pop/indie kind of thing going on (which I like!)

Blogspot!

Okay, so my first hour on BlogSpot has been terribly boring. I know my life is epically boring and consists of my hanging out and being a spaz. Pictures seem like they are mandatory on this blog, and you need to have a poetic sound to your writing that no average High Schooler would have (besides the uber smart students who study all of the time).

Here is a picture of my best friends cat, her name is Fluffy, and even though she is a barn cat she gets all of the respect of a house cat! That is saying something, a barn cat usually never lives past its reputation of a barn cat. It's like Social Stratification, which I know about from the help of my Sociology class, that people usually never live past their ascribed status in life. See more rambling about nothing that I promised to talk about.

I will defiantly have to add some pictures of where i live (maybe), even though Nova Scotia has never been anything than a nuisance for me. In rural Nova Scotia there is not much to do, if there are any fellow Nova Scotioners here, they will mostly agree!. The weather is bi-polar, the landscape is beautiful (but you do have to look for it,) being a townie myself dealing with college students without being able to join in being underage, and the over protective parents who thing all of the children are getting into all kinds of dirty shenanigans.

Anyways, all in all I hope to keep a well documented diary-esque blog, focusing more on my life and stuff.....well mostly rambles like this one.....yeah

Starting Up!

This is going to be my FIRST blog entry ever. I am a little intimidated by it all, but I hope that all of the nervousness will fade in time XP

An introduction will be necessary I guess, my name is Emily (as you could probably tell by my website) I am a High School Student and there is not really much else to tell!

I think I will be using this to put up all my rambling about different stuff, including fashion, make up, hair, nails etc.

I can tell already that I will have some very interesting (mostly stupid) rambling about stuff that has nothing do do with the things listed above, and I hope that people will enjoy my rants!
